WELCOME TO GASTRECTOMY CONNECTIONS

The Facebook Page for Partial and Total Gastrectomy Patients was created on the 10th July 2012 by Stomach Cancer Survivor and Total Gastrectomy Patient, Michelle Lykokapis.  Michelle was 39 years old when she received her diagnosis in 2011 and went searching for others who were looking for support and information to what how life was going to look without a stomach.

As the community has grown so have the resources, so a dedicated website was created as another way of supporting those that need a place to connect to others who have been through or are contemplating gastric surgery due to health related issues.

Our community has an enormous amount of shared experiences to offer and we invite you to get involved, share your story, ask questions and make connections.  The original Facebook Page was created for this very purpose and the website serves as an additional resource for those seeking support and information.

Gastrectomy Connections is not a registered non profit organization, therefore any donations to our site are not tax deductable.  We rely on the kindness and generosity of the community to assist with the associated costs of running our social media platforms.  We are administered by a group of volunteers who generously donate their time, resources and experience to the gastric community.

Whether you are a patient, a survivor, a caregiver, a family member, a friend, a volunteer, a medical professional or are at risk for any form of surgery requiring a partial or total gastrectomy, you will find support and commonalities within our global community.

Thank you for being here.

The Story Behind the Seahorse Logo

When the original Facebook Page started in 2012, Michelle was searching for something that would represent the Stomachless Community.  During her search of Stomachless creatures she came across the Seahorse.  Symbolically Seahorses point to the importance of friendliness. Everyone needs a friend, and you can be one to others just by showing kindness, compassion, and generosity.  She loved how this represented the intention behind what has now evolved into an amazing community.

Occasionally we will send you some helpful insights, tips, trends and ideas straight to your inbox. You may unsubscribe at anytime.
